Director, Transmission Policy Advocacy

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Director, Transmission Policy Advocacy. Location: Washington, DC (Onsite). The Senior Director, Transmission Policy Advocacy will lead Invenergy's advocacy campaigns, engagement with policymakers, & community benefit initiatives to advance the company's transmission policy objectives. This role involves representing Invenergy in key stakeholder engagements to promote the expansion of high-voltage transmission infrastructure, ensuring access to diversified, affordable, & reliable energy for communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop & execute advocacy strategies with internal experts & external allies to support favorable federal policies.
  • Build relationships with policymakers, government agencies, industry stakeholders, & NGOs to advance transmission infrastructure priorities.
  • Represent Invenergy at conferences & workshops, acting as a spokesperson on transmission policy issues.
  • Engage media outlets & industry publications to promote key policy initiatives.
  • Lead development & analysis of legislative proposals supporting HVDC transmission expansion.
  • Monitor federal legislative developments to identify influence opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Regulatory Affairs & State Government teams on transmission-related policy issues.
  • Conduct outreach with federal policy stakeholders & keep them informed on transmission projects.
  • Advance workforce planning & community benefits with support from the Senior Manager for Transmission Community Benefits.
  •  Manage development of applications & advocacy on federal funding opportunities related to transmission.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years in public affairs, policy advocacy, or government relations with experience in energy or infrastructure policy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, communications, economics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Expertise in federal electric transmission policy & regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, & leadership skills.
  • Strategic thinker with experience managing teams & setting organizational goals.
  • Must be based in Washington, DC, & eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
