Job Title: Senior Energy Markets Analyst. Location: Canberra, Sydney, or Brisbane, Australia.

The Energy Management Department at Neoen seeks a **Senior Energy Markets Analyst** to join its Markets team. This role focuses on optimizing operating assets in energy markets and supporting Neoen’s expansion, combining market expertise, advanced quantitative capabilities & software development skills.  

Responsibilities:  

• Monitor, analyze & report market activity & performance of operating assets in the NEM & WEM.
• Develop strategies to improve market performance & collaborate with teams to implement them.
• Analyze Neoen’s portfolio merchant exposure & execute hedging opportunities using structured products.
• Enhance market analysis practices by developing tools to automate monitoring & reporting tasks.
• Assess market fundamentals, trends & their impacts on Neoen’s portfolio (e.g., negative pricing, solar cannibalization).
• Deliver long-term power market analysis using internal models & external scenarios.
• Support development teams by projecting future revenues for new wind, solar & BESS assets.
• Provide business & strategic recommendations through quantitative results & market insights.
• Participate in PPA negotiations & valuation.
• Innovate business models, such as Baseload PPAs & Virtual Batteries.

Qualifications:  

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Data, or Computer Science.  
• 3+ years of experience in a market analyst role within the NEM.  
• Proficiency in Python & knowledge of SQL.  
• Familiarity with version management tools (Git).  
• Bonus: Experience with constrained optimization models (LP, MILP).  
• Fluent in English.
• Proactive & curious with a problem-solving mindset.
• Strong interpersonal skills & ability to work across teams.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Effective communicator in a fast-paced, high-skilled environment.
