Job Description
Reporting to the EHS Manager, the Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for planning, communicating, and executing the organization's environmental, health, and safety initiatives to ensure a secure, healthy, and accident-free work environment. This role provides safety support for three facilities and a remote field service team.
Essential Functions
Develops and enforces safety policies and procedures in line with local, state, and federal OSHA regulations.
Trains managers and employees on worksite safety practices, fire prevention, and proper handling of machinery, equipment, and chemicals.
Conducts safety orientations for new hires.
Ensures all employees complete the necessary safety training.
Prepares analyses of industrial accident causes and health hazards for internal use and external agencies.
Inspects facilities to identify and mitigate potential accident and health hazards, implementing corrective or preventative measures as needed.
Participates in accident and injury investigations to ensure effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Compiles and submits required accident reports to regulatory agencies.
Maintains safety documentation and records.
Supports and mentors the Safety Committee.
Drives continuous improvement and streamlines processes and procedures.
Leads and manages special projects, which may be large-scale or significant in scope.
Maintains confidentiality of employment and workers' compensation medical records.
Requirements
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Human Resources, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in environmental, health, and/or safety professional roles.
Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate at all organizational levels and present comfortably in public.
Proficiency in IT skills, including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
High level of professionalism in interactions with employees, management, and external parties.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong influencing skills and the ability to motivate employees and leaders to adhere to safety protocols.
Effective problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
Strong integrity and ethical standards.
Willingness to travel up to 20% to support remote employees or Ipsen manufacturing facilities as needed.

Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
May occasionally be exposed to loud manufacturing environments, though the office environment is usually moderate in noise level.
