Mechanical Technician

Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Technician. Location: Cheshire, UK. The Mechanical Technician will ensure safe operations of Stublach gas handling assets, maintaining plant equipment, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance tasks on gas assets and support contract staff to achieve operational efficiency.  
• Prepare mechanical isolations and purging operations for maintenance tasks, including isolation documentation.  
• Adhere to safety protocols, report safety incidents, and participate in the Emergency Response Team during on-site incidents.  
• Document safe work systems, securing work areas by identifying risks and implementing safeguards.  
• Manage isolation processes and conduct gas testing before authorizing work activities.  
• Create and revise operational instructions, risk assessments, and procedures to maintain system safety.  
• Perform first-level maintenance, both planned and corrective, on gas handling assets and maintain accurate records in the CMMS.  
• Coordinate on-site delivery and offloading of necessary materials for operations.  
• Inspect mechanical equipment and provide reports and recommendations as needed.  
• Participate in the on-call rota (approximately 1 week every 3 weeks).  

Qualifications & Experience:  

• Minimum 5 years in operations/maintenance in the oil/gas/chemical/COMAH industries.  
• Mechanical technical knowledge required, with prior experience as an Appointed Person preferred.  
• Recognized apprenticeship (Mechanical) and NVQ Level 3 or equivalent technical diploma in a related field (essential).  
• HNC in Mechanical Engineering (desirable), Health & Safety certification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH) preferred.  
• Familiarity with CMMS systems like Maximo (desirable).
