Job Description
The Inspector I conducts inspections of offshore structures, vessels, pipelines, and associated components to assess structural and coating conditions in accordance with API RP 2SIM & API RP 2FPS.
Duties & Responsibilities
Inspect materials and products to identify anomalies, damage, or defects (e.g., cracks, pits, incomplete welds, corrosion) with minimal supervision.
Collaborate with diving contractors or work independently to conduct inspections and surveys of offshore structures, vessels, and pipelines. Follow guidance from inspection team leader for collaborative tasks.
Perform cathodic protection surveys using a "drop-cell" technique on offshore structures, vessels, and pipelines.
Utilize NDT, camera, video, and written documentation techniques for inspections of offshore and onshore structures, vessels, and pipelines.
Create detailed drawings and sketches as supplementary documentation.
Operate and maintain various inspection equipment.
Generate comprehensive inspection reports using computer software applications.
Maintain organized records of inspection data.
Perform support tasks for inspections as required.
Work offshore for at least 180 days annually, typically on a non-rotational basis, with travel to offshore locations by vessel or aircraft.
Spend office time producing CAIRS inspection reports (CAIRS stands for Computer Aided Inspection Reporting Software).
Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
One year of relevant NDT experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least one NDT certification among ACFM, Eddy Current, VT, PT, MT, UT, or RT.
Rope Access Certification: IRATA or SPRAT.
Must possess or obtain a TWIC card.
Valid Passport.
Safe Gulf & HUET Water Survival certification.
Ability to work in challenging environments.
Working Conditions:
This role involves offshore work, characterized as follows: Primarily outdoor work during daylight, occasionally at night. Exposure to airborne dust and confined spaces occasionally. Frequent exposure to heights and occasional noise levels above 85 decibels.
