Operations Engineer Intern

Basic Job Functions:

Opportunity for individuals interested in manufacturing to gain hands-on experience with high-volume solar panel manufacturing equipment and processes. Work closely with a cross-functional manufacturing team to monitor, analyze, troubleshoot day-to-day issues, and implement changes or new equipment for improved performance. Positions are on a rotating two-week schedule, either days (6am-6pm) or nights (6pm-6am), including weekends.

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Pursuing at least an associate degree in a technical discipline.

First Solar encourages interns to register their internship with their College or University.

Required Skills/Competencies:

Safety mindset for working in a manufacturing environment.

Good written and oral communication skills in English.

Comfortable working as part of a team.

Competent in Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.

Essential Responsibilities:

Assist manufacturing engineers and technicians in solving day-to-day production equipment and process challenges.

Identify and implement product performance improvements.

Monitor production process data, perform statistical analysis, and assess performance.

Respond to production equipment alarms and execute planned process experiments.

Provide on-the-job training to production associates and update process documentation.

Develop a thorough understanding of area processes, equipment, and support systems.

Maintain effective communication with production associates and manufacturing engineers.

Interface with internal associates and supplier representatives as needed for assigned projects.

Adhere to safety procedures, good housekeeping standards, and environmental health standards.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Manufacturing Engineer or Technician. This position will not have direct reports.

Estimated Salary Range: $14.50-$24.95 per hour
