Job Description
The Applications Engineer provides technical expertise to support Canadian Solar’s energy storage solutions. This position will be responsible for the pre-sales activities of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) including system sizing, preliminary design, and value engineering.
This role will require the chosen candidate to work closely with the commercial and engineering teams to help develop proposals for new storage project opportunities and provide technical support to respond to customer needs. A senior-level position will be considered for candidates with the right experience.
Responsibilities
Act as a technical liaison between Sales, customers, and partners; provide expert advice on product specifications and value engineering.
Analyze RFPs and customer documentation to determine project scope, schedule, specifications, risks, and technical requirements.
Develop size models and conceptual drawings (Electrical single-line diagrams, site layouts, etc.).
Prepare technical documentation for proposals and coordinate bid package preparation with other departments.
Ensure project understanding and priorities are shared among sales, engineering, and procurement teams.
Conduct technical presentations and provide clarifications to customers and internal departments.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical); graduate degree strongly preferred.
Direct experience in battery energy storage systems or utility-scale solar, ideally as an applications engineer.
Proficiency in AutoCAD or related software.
Strong technical aptitude, capable of comprehending engineering schematics, technical reports, and technology reviews.
Familiarity with regulatory standards in India concerning energy storage and grid-interactive inverters.
Global perspective and experience in multinational environments beneficial.
Effective time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and priorities concurrently.
