Wind Turbine Technician - Renewables

Job Description

Job Title: Wind Turbine Technician. Location: Boulevard, CA. Avangrid Renewables is hiring a Wind Turbine Technician to manage onsite operations, maintenance, repairs, and equipment replacement at a wind-powered generation plant. The role involves leading plant operations as directed by the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance:

 - Operate and maintain wind turbine equipment, including substations and transmission systems.

 - Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.

 - Perform repairs and replacements as needed, following OEM manuals.

Safety and Compliance:

 - Comply with environmental health and safety programs.

 - Perform preventive maintenance and adhere to internal controls.

 - Ensure QA/QC functions and report preparation.

Additional Duties:

 - Enhance knowledge of turbine and solar equipment.

 - Work overtime and travel as needed (10-15% travel).

 - Perform duties around various voltage levels and in adverse weather conditions.

Skills and Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Certificate from a technical school or 12 months of related experience.
• Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment.
• Advanced computer skills and the ability to climb towers up to 100 meters.
• Ability to lift heavy items and work with electrical wires.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in power plant operations, wind and solar maintenance.
• Knowledge of high voltage switching and heavy equipment.
• Experience in wind turbine and solar power converters.
