Environmental Technician

Job Description

Environmental Technician - Chicago, IL. Compensation: $20.00/hour - $25.00/hour  

Responsibilities:

• Fieldwork: Perform routine field tasks such as environmental sampling, equipment maintenance, and inspection under close supervision.
• Support: Assist project staff with less complex duties and handle entry-level tasks.
• Data Collection: Collect soil, water, and remediation system data; perform soil logging and fluid level gauging.
• Oversight: Support contractors in field surveys, drilling, well installation, and utility clearance.
• Health & Safety: Participate in health and safety inspections, observations, and training.
• Documentation: Prepare field documents, collect and interpret data, and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Office Support: Assist with data entry, analysis, report preparation, and records maintenance.
• Travel: Required to travel to project sites, including driving and overnight stays.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in soil characterization, waste profiling, groundwater/soil sampling, and well installation.
• Fieldwork experience including soil, surface water, groundwater sampling, and data collection.
• Experience overseeing contractors and performing inspections.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and data compliance.
• Proficiency in office tasks like data entry and report preparation.
