Business Development Manager

Job Description

JOb Title: Business Development Oversight Manager. Location: Paris, France (Occasional Travel to Brussels, Belgium). As the Business Development Oversight Manager, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring smooth decision-making processes for large and complex transactions. Your focus will be on validating origination files, coordinating risk and legal assessments, and calculating the Economic Value Analysis (EVA). You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and support the management of transactions related to renewable energy, gas off-take agreements, PPAs (solar, wind), biomass, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and challenge structured transactions independently to facilitate business and decision-making.
  • Prepare and finalize Risk and Legal notes in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Coordinate between project and support teams to ensure timely document delivery.
  • Report key risks and issues to GEMS management and support the Origination Committee.
  • Handle the secretariat of the Origination Committee, preparing agendas, invitations, and minutes.
  • Participate in meetings related to origination, risk, and investment processes.
  • Guide project teams through the validation process for transactions presented to the Investment Committee, including ethical due diligence.
  • Compute and coordinate EVA metrics for transactions.
  • Support transversal tasks, including EMIR reporting and presentations at Academies.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or equivalent.
  • 5–10 years of experience in the energy sector, with a focus on financial and risk management.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to develop tactical tools using IT languages (Python, VBA, SQL) and low-code tools (Dataiku).
  • Experience with GEMS origination activities (Green PPAs, gas off-take contracts) is a plus.
  • Bilingual in French and English; additional European languages are a bonus.
