Controllership Accountant

Job Description

Job Title: Controllership Accountant – Den Haag, Netherlands. We are looking for a Controllership Accountant to join our team in the Netherlands. This role involves financial reporting, statutory compliance, & accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy & adherence to Dutch regulations. The position requires collaboration with both internal & external stakeholders, including auditors & tax specialists.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare statutory accounts & supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations & liaise with auditors.
• Prepare & submit CIT (Corporate Income Tax) & VAT returns;
• Manage CBS (Dutch National Bureau of Statistics) reporting;
• Prepare equity adjustment schedules & deferred tax journal entries.

Accounting & Month-End Close

• Analyze SG&A costs & prepare accrual journal entries.
• Manage payroll journal entries, tax returns, & reconciliations;
• Conduct fringe accounting analysis & ensure accuracy in payroll components.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations for payroll, VAT, & turnover accounts.

Forecasting & Financial Oversight

• Support monthly OCF (Operating Cash Flow) forecasting.
• Provide variance reports & financial insights;
• Supervise fixed asset registers & oversee lease accounting.
• Conduct internal audit reviews & liaise with auditors.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in accounting, controllership, or financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of Dutch GAAP, tax regulations, & statutory reporting;
• Experience with VAT, CIT, & payroll accounting in the Netherlands;
• Proficiency in Oracle, SAP, or similar ERP systems;
• Strong analytical & stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in Dutch & English preferred.
