Head of V&A

Job Description

Job Title: Head of V&A (Energy Portfolio Management, Analytics, and Structuring). Locations: London. UK. As the Head of V&A, you will lead ENGIE’s Energy Transition efforts in the UK, managing a diversified portfolio. Your leadership will guide strategic decision-making, from short-term intraday pricing to long-term investments, driving performance and innovation.

You will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) for EM UK, setting the strategic roadmap for ENGIE's energy transition in the UK. With a focus on decarbonisation, optimisation, and client collaboration, you will foster a culture of excellence and innovation within the team and across ENGIE.

Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Management: Oversee asset management using the GEMS ETRM system. Provide analysis on risk management strategies and execute agreed hedges.
  • Market Analysis: Develop and maintain market models to support asset investment and M&A activity, with a focus on UK market assumptions.
  • Quantitative Research and Modelling: Support traders and originators by designing and building quantitative tools for major strategic projects.
  • Structuration: Implement structured products to support the UK energy market.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with EM UK teams, GEMS expertise centres, external clients, and industry bodies like NESO.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
    • Passion for energy transition and sustainability
    • Understanding of commodity market fundamentals (preferably power)
    • Strong communication and decision-making skills
    • Digital mindset with knowledge of agile working methods
    • University degree in a quantitative field (e.g., IT, engineering, mathematics, economics)
  • Nice to Have:
    • Experience in UK power & gas markets
    • Familiarity with Data Science methodologies and risk management systems
    • Proficiency in modern coding languages (Python, R, or Julia)
