Environmental Coordinator

Job Description

We’re the nation's leading training program for environmental organizers.

Are you passionate about making a significant impact on issues like climate change and clean water but unsure where to begin? Green Corps offers a yearlong, paid training program designed to prepare you for a career in environmental organizing and the broader social change movement. Here’s how it works:

Learn from Environmental Leaders

We provide unparalleled instruction in organizing and advocacy skills to help you launch a career of lifelong impact. Our staff and trainers offer insights on the major environmental challenges and teach proven strategies and tactics. You’ll master volunteer recruitment, campaign planning, public speaking, and more, equipping you to run campaigns that mobilize the public and build the political support necessary to protect our planet.

Gain Hands-On Experience

Starting each August, Green Corps packs a wealth of experience into one year, with organizers working in multiple cities on various issues alongside different partner groups. We also offer short-term opportunities starting in August 2024 or earlier. You’ll tackle the most pressing environmental issues of the day, from preserving our last wild places and protecting our oceans to reducing climate change pollution.

For example, a team of our organizers collaborated with the Solar Rights Alliance to safeguard rooftop solar in California, rallying over 2,000 people to campaign events and building a coalition of over 600 organizations and businesses in support of the cause.

Launch Your Organizing Career

Upon completing our training program, we connect graduates with organizing jobs in the environmental and social change movements. Many organizations need skilled organizers to lead their campaigns, and most Green Corps graduates secure professional positions immediately. Over the last 30 years, more than 400 alumni have infused the environmental movement with visionary ideas and the organizing expertise to address some of our planet’s most critical issues.

Location, Compensation, and Benefits

For positions starting in August 2024, the target annual compensation is $32,500, with potential variations between $32,500 and $41,690 depending on location. Green Corps offers an excellent benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents, paid sick time (60-72 hours/year depending on location), accrued paid vacation (10 days in the first year), and a commuter benefit program. Needs-based student loan assistance may also be available. We offer additional short-term campaign and training opportunities, as well as advancement prospects. Compensation and benefits will vary for short-term positions.

Green Corps organizers go where the environment needs them most, working on campaigns across the country. While we consider location preferences, we require all organizers to be geographically flexible to maximize their impact.
