Environmental Engineer

Job Description

Position: Environmental Engineer, Scientist, or Hydrogeologist . Location: Sydney, Australia. Company: Geosyntec Consultants. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fieldwork, including soil, soil vapor, surface water, and groundwater sampling.
  • Oversee drilling and contractors, and maintain remediation treatment systems.
  • Perform well installation, aquifer testing, and groundwater monitoring.
  • Evaluate chemical data and contaminant fate & transport.
  • Assess groundwater and soil remedies, estimate costs, and design implementations.
  • Monitor heavy civil construction projects.
  • Analyze data and prepare maps, tables, figures, and technical reports.

Training and Development:

  • Health and safety, first aid, and other on-the-job training are required.
  • Opportunities for professional development through in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 60%  
  • Overnight Travel: Up to 30%

Education and Licensure:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental, civil, or chemical engineering.
  • Preferred: Advanced degree in geology, environmental, civil, or chemical engineering, or a related field.

Skills, Qualifications:

  • Required: 2 to 5 years of environmental consulting experience, experience with multi-disciplinary teams, demonstrated teamwork, effective communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and a valid NSW driver’s license.
  • Preferred: Research experience in contaminated media or remediation technology, knowledge of regulatory requirements for contaminated land, and experience with relevant software (e.g., ArcPro, ProUCL, Tablogs, EQuIS, Modflow, Solinst levelogger, and/or EVS). Licensed Asbestos Assessor is also preferred.
