Equipment Technician

Job Description

The Industrial Millwright installs, dismantles, and maintains machinery and equipment according to company plans and specifications. Utilizing hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

Align machines and equipment during installation using hoists, jacks, squares, rulers, micrometers, and plumb bobs.

Assist in repairing issues with new equipment.

Fabricate new machine parts if original parts are missing or damaged.

Supervise apprentices and guide them to ensure successful task completion.

Develop procedures, work instructions, and checklists related to machine operation and maintenance.

Conduct training sessions for operators and new employees on machine operation and maintenance.

Ensure adherence to safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures.

Perform preventative maintenance once machines and equipment are operational.

Maintain compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.

Complete other assigned duties and projects.

Qualifications

Completion of a four-year apprenticeship program certified by the Department of Labour, or equivalent 5 years of direct experience as a Millwright.

Ability to detect, isolate, and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment.

Proficient in fabricating new parts to replace defective components during setup, maintenance, or overhaul.

Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, manuals, and specifications.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated commitment to innovative thinking and continuous learning.

Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities.

Upholds ethics and integrity in all aspects of work.

Effective coaching, mentoring, mediation, and negotiation skills.
