Field Service Technician

Job Description

The Field Service Engineer role is a remote position servicing the Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston areas. This role requires travel up to 90% of the time and the candidate must be based within close proximity to the assigned market.

Key Responsibilities

Plans and coordinates assignments as directed by the HUB Lead, including installation, upgrading, troubleshooting technical issues, and performing scheduled maintenance and calibration services. Ensures high-quality service performance in terms of execution, repair speed, and customer interaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Identify technical issues with heat treatment equipment at customer sites.

Execute service jobs, including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repairs, and calibrations.

Document performed service jobs and record potential warranty claims.

Identify and promote up-/cross-selling opportunities for heat treatment equipment services.

Determine required materials (tools, consumables, spare parts) for successful service execution.

Serve as the first point of contact for customers with existing service contracts.

Plan and schedule service jobs in coordination with the HUB Lead.

Accurately and promptly record work hours and job assignments within the time & attendance system.

Submit expense reports accurately and promptly for review and approval.

Work safely and adhere to all Ipsen safety protocols and policies.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the heat treatment industry.

Ability to maintain and troubleshoot heat treatment equipment.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, both internally and externally.

High level of customer orientation and service mentality.

Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and skills.

Proficiency in basic computer operations (e.g., MS Office, ERP, CRM systems).

Ability to present a professional appearance and positively represent Ipsen.

Ability to identify and promote cross-selling opportunities.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a hands-on approach.

Preference for living within the assigned HUB location or within a 30-minute drive of a HUB border.

Valid driver’s license and required automobile insurance coverage as per Ipsen Travel Policy.

Ability to travel as required by car, plane, or other means.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

5+ years of related industrial equipment operation and/or maintenance experience, preferably in the heat treatment industry or completion of an intensive industry training program.

Experience in equipment calibration, pyrometry, vacuum, thermal, and TUS is a plus.
