Job Description

Intermediate Fluvial Geomorphologist. Location: Canada/London. AECOM is seeking a motivated Intermediate Fluvial Geomorphologist to join our expanding team in Canada. This role involves applying fluvial geomorphology expertise to environmental and engineering projects, including stream restoration and erosion control. The successful candidate will collaborate with fluvial geomorphologists, hydraulic engineers, and ecologists to improve stream conditions and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply scientific principles and existing technologies to solve technical problems.
  • Collect and analyze data, ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations.
  • Support or lead natural channel design and stream restoration projects.
  • Conduct detailed field investigations, including sediment transport and scour analysis.
  • Analyze geomorphic and hydraulic data and produce technical reports.
  • Collaborate across offices and disciplines, participating in client and stakeholder meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geomorphology, river engineering, earth science, or related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with GIS and CAD software.
  • Knowledge of fluvial processes, river hydraulics, and channel stability analysis.
  • Experience with environmental data collection and stream restoration.
  • Ability to travel to remote areas for fieldwork.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in fluvial geomorphology.
  • 6 years of experience.
  • Familiarity with Natural Channel Design from concept to implementation.
  • Experience with GIS and hydraulic modeling applications.
  • Knowledge of geohazard mapping and slope stability analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with proposal writing or project management.
  • Eligibility for professional memberships (P.Geo., P.Eng.).
