Job Description

Job Title: Geostructural Engineer. Location: Chicago, IL. Langan is seeking a talented Geostructural Engineer to join our Chicago, IL office. This role is vital in developing innovative structural design solutions for unique geotechnical projects, offering a significant opportunity for professional growth and client interaction. You'll collaborate with our geotechnical engineering group and support the site/civil and landscape architectural teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform geostructural analysis for projects including support of excavation, underpinning, slope stabilization, utility support, ground-improvement, foundations, and earth-retaining structures.
• Design reinforced concrete structures for site features such as retaining walls, stairs, pavements, and specialty structures.
• Conduct loading calculations for fences, railings, and foundations for various site elements.
• Design concrete, steel, and timber constructions.
• Oversee the design and implementation of positive cutoff walls, dewatering systems, and waterfront features

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural or Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university; Master’s degree is a plus.
• 4+ years of geostructural experience.
• Illinois Structural Engineer licensure is required.
• Proficiency in soil and rock mechanics, soil-structure interaction, numerical analysis, and LRFD methodology.
• Familiarity with ACI, AISC, AASHTO, and building codes.
• Proficient in Plaxis 2D, RISA, MathCAD, AutoCAD; Plaxis 3D experience is a plus.
• Experience in earthwork, support of excavation, and concrete construction oversight is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.
• Willingness to perform fieldwork.
• Ability to travel as needed with a valid driver’s license.
