Geotechnical Engineer

Job Description

The Geotechnical Engineer interprets geotechnical data and site plans to design optimal PV array pile foundations and aggregate surfaced roads. They review and enhance foundation designs for alignment with Recurrent Energy’s standards and manage geotechnical field work, including testing and mitigation of subsurface issues.

Responsibilities:

Design roadway structural sections and foundations, supporting civil, structural, and electrical design as needed.

Review geotechnical reports, site data, and public soils information to recommend additional testing for accurate design deliverables.

Specify pile test programs for solar projects and review foundation designs to enhance project value and mitigate risks.

Conduct Pile Lateral Analysis to assess pile deflections and review plans for safety and constructability.

Maintain a value engineering approach throughout development, design, and construction phases.

Collaborate across technical disciplines to address project challenges and identify innovative solutions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proficient in LPile, Allpile, or similar numerical foundation analysis software.

Skilled in interpreting geotechnical data and communicating risks effectively.

Knowledgeable in ASCE 7, IBC, AISC 360, ASTM standards, and construction regulations.

GIS experience preferred; proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Strong project management and communication skills with a detail-oriented approach.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent.

Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required.

Minimum 5 years of engineering experience, with 2 years in driven steel pile foundation design for solar or cost-sensitive industries.
