Grid Connection Engineer

Job Description

Position: Grid Connection Engineer

As a Grid Connection Engineer, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our wind turbines and wind power plants meet grid compliance standards. Your responsibilities will vary based on your qualifications & seniority, but they could include planning & executing measurement campaigns, analyzing test results, and defining test plans. You'll develop key knowledge on grid connection and work on high-performance test rigs and software development.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, specify, & execute measurement campaigns on wind turbines, sub-systems, & components.
  • Analyze, evaluate, & report test results.
  • Coordinate, evaluate, & assess relevant grid code requirements & grid connection standards.
  • Define test plans for new wind turbines, sub-systems, & component measurement campaigns.
  • Develop & share key knowledge on grid connection to strengthen project support on grid codes, wind turbine capabilities, & features.
  • Program & integrate features in high-performance test rigs, developing our software to handle & analyze data.
  • Travel at least 30 days a year to various test sites & SGRE offices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in grid compliance of wind turbines, wind power plants, automation, or electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge in power systems, wind turbines/wind power plants, grid connection requirements, or test facilities & automation.
  • Experience with standards related to wind turbine testing (e.g., IEC61400-21-1).
  • Hands-on experience with measurement equipment & software (e.g., Dewesoft, imc Famos, MATLAB).
  • Experience with network technologies & fieldbuses, real-time applications, programming (PLC, C, C++), & Beckhoff’s PC-based control technology including TwinCAT 3 software is a plus.
  • Class B driver’s license.
  • Outgoing, result-oriented, structured, dedicated team player.
  • Excellent English skills both orally & in writing.
