HV Specialist Technician

Job Description

Position: HV Specialist Skills Technician  

Location: Dulacca QLD (or surrounding areas such as Miles or Chinchilla)  

Join Vestas as an HV Specialist Skills Technician for our Dulacca wind farm. This role involves operating high voltage equipment, maintaining HV assets, and supervising subcontractors, with close cooperation with our Service teams.

Responsibilities:

Safety: Ensure safety of personnel and compliance with OH&S legislation, including undertaking site inductions and reporting incidents. Adhere to Vestas HV Electrical Safety rules.

Operation & Maintenance: Conduct scheduled service, inspections, and reactive maintenance on HV equipment. Provide remote support, plan and execute substation maintenance shutdowns, and ensure safe access to HV equipment.

Customers: Maintain good relationships with internal and external customers, provide prompt onsite feedback, and liaise with power utilities.

Staff: Participate in meetings, supervise and coordinate working parties, and oversee HV operator training.

Qualifications:

Education: Tertiary or Trade qualification in Electrical Engineering (essential).

Experience: HV Operator certification (essential); substation experience preferred.

Certification: Eligible for appointment as Vestas HV advanced operator.

Competencies:

Safety Focus: Advanced knowledge of providing safe access to HV equipment and adherence to safety regulations.

Technical Knowledge: Expertise in HV equipment, substation operations, control systems (including SCADA), and maintenance practices. Familiarity with wind turbine, solar, and storage battery systems is advantageous.

Problem Solving: Ability to identify, define, and evaluate problems logically.

Systematic Approach: Orderly and planned work methods.

Supervisory Skills: Experience in supervising subcontractors and site-based technicians. Proficiency in report writing and presentations.
