HV Transmission Electrical Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: High Voltage Transmission Electrical Engineer. Location: New York, NY

Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering support for HVDC terrestrial & submarine cable systems and converter stations.
• Conduct HVDC cable routing & feasibility studies for converter stations.
• Assist with project permitting & technical support.
• Develop conceptual engineering documents & technical proposals.
• Collaborate with project teams to create design schedules & budgets.
• Support utility interface & technical coordination;
• Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, arc flash analysis, & protective coordination.
• Develop PSCAD models & perform system analysis;
• Create one-line & three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, BOMs, & interconnection diagrams.
• Conduct field testing & commissioning of HVDC equipment & systems;
• Design grounding systems & review engineering work by peers;
• Participate in client meetings & promote AECOM’s technical capabilities.
• Ensure quality control of engineering work & contribute to technical proposals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in HVAC & HVDC electrical power engineering.
• Leadership experience in power system projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• 10+ years of relevant experience;
• Expertise in FACTS & power system analysis tools (ASPEN, ETAP, SKM, AcSELerator, EnerVista, etc.).
• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, IEEE standards;
• Experience in EPC, Design/Build projects, & plant startup/commissioning.
• Owner’s engineering & remote team collaboration experience.
