OHL Design Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior OHL Design Engineer. Location: Prenton Offices. As a Senior Design Engineer (OHL) with SPEN, you’ll play a critical role in our journey to NetZero by managing projects that involve new technologies in transmission networks. Working alongside various stakeholders within SPEN, Iberdrola Group, and external organizations, you will develop and deliver engineering solutions for the evolving energy landscape.  

Responsibilities:  

• Lead in the development of pre-contract design of OHL systems and associated equipment.  
• Prepare engineering specifications and technical specifications for OHL system designs.  
• Resolve statutory, land, and consent issues related to OHL routes.  
• Ensure designs align with legislation, policies, and operational requirements.  
• Oversee technical resolution of site/construction OHL issues.  
• Represent project teams on OHL engineering standards, industry practices, and decisions.  
• Implement and promote CDM and Health & Safety best practices in the design environment.  

Qualifications:

• Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.  
• Knowledge of UK design codes and standards.  
• Experience with PLS-CADD software.  
• Significant experience in high voltage OHL networks and associated equipment.  
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across teams.
