Senior Project Manager

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Project Manager. Location: Cambuslang or Currie, United Kingdom. With plans to invest over £10bn in transmission projects across our network in central and southern Scotland by 2030, SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of the ScottishPower Group, is set to play a key role in meeting the Scottish and UK Government’s 2030 energy targets. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be at the forefront of these exciting projects, contributing to innovation and the development of NetZero solutions for the transmission network.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of capital projects within the transmission network, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on budget, and on time, without adverse environmental impacts.
  • Oversee projects including customer connections, asset replacement, and new build reinforcements, with projects typically valued at £10m per annum.
  • Manage transmission projects (33-400kV) from delivery to final closeout, ensuring compliance with quality standards, project metrics, and milestones.
  • Manage project risks, develop capital expenditure forecasts, and drive efficiencies through innovation.
  • Promote a high level of service to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring they are consulted at all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Take ownership of contract management (NEC, FIDIC, bespoke SPT Design, and Construct).
  • Ensure safety, environmental compliance, and risk mitigation on construction sites.
  • Deliver quality, maintainable products to SPT Network Operations, ensuring project reviews, witness testing, and handovers are completed satisfactorily.
  • Drive continual improvement across the wider project portfolio, including contract reviews and lessons learned.

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in managing major projects within utilities (energy, water, gas, telecoms).
  • A relevant engineering degree (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Project management experience with full lifecycle knowledge within UK utilities.
  • Understanding of quality assurance processes and health, safety, and environmental legislation applicable to UK construction projects.
  • Ability to devise solutions to complex problems and challenges.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
