Intern, Construction/Engineering

Job Description

Job Title: Intern, Construction/Engineering. Location: SAn Jose, California USA. As a Construction/Engineering Intern, you’ll play an important role in supporting large-scale energy conservation and renewable energy installations. Working under the guidance of Project Managers and mentors, your key responsibilities will involve engaging in technical design, site audits, and performing energy and savings calculations to assist in the development and construction of energy-efficient systems for public sector customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate in the design and implementation of energy-related solutions, including solar PV, energy storage, microgrids, HVAC systems, and energy efficiency improvements.
  • Perform site audits and energy conservation analysis, ensuring the accuracy of calculations and the appropriate application of technologies.
  • Assist in energy modeling using software tools like eQuest, PVSyst, Helioscope, and Energy Toolbase.
  • Support preparation for utility and incentive program applications, and permit packages.
  • Participate in construction activities, including job site walks, bid evaluations, contractor negotiations, and reviewing project documentation such as submittals and change orders.
  • Travel to job sites to provide hands-on support as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled at Hartnell College, ideally pursuing a degree in Construction or Engineering.
  • Strong academic standing at the start of the internship period.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a clean driving record required for site travel.
  • Availability to work through the Winter/Spring or Summer 2025 internship period, with flexibility for school schedules.
