Job Description
Job Title: Lead Wind Technician. Location: Miami, TX; Pampa, TX. The Miami Wind Energy Center is a 288 MW wind power generation facility near Miami, TX, utilizing 156 GE 1.85 - 87.5 WTG technology. As a Lead Technician, you will be responsible for operating & maintaining the Miami Wind Energy Center.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the team, setting an example, & fill in for the Operations Manager during absence.
- Perform maintenance & provide technical support to achieve safe, cost-effective operation with minimal supervision.
- Work a 7:00 am – 3:30 pm schedule, subject to scheduled & unscheduled overtime, varying during peak maintenance periods.
- Assist with staffing, coaching, training, & corrective action for employees & contractors.
- Provide input for performance evaluations of technicians as per management.
- Assist with Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibilities & maintain spare parts inventory.
- Conduct maintenance, repair, & replacement of mechanical & electrical components.
- Operate facility during normal, off-normal, & emergency conditions following procedures.
- Assist in managing operating procedures, environmental reporting, purchasing, inventory, & contractor oversight.
- Troubleshoot mechanical & electrical issues including pitch systems, speed control systems, & components.
- Perform administrative tasks & ensure compliance with EHS & other relevant standards.
Required Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3+) years of renewable energy experience (wind, solar, or battery storage).
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders, & work at heights over 80 meters.
- Ability to lift up to 45 kg (100 pounds) & meet a 265 lbs. weight limit per equipment specifications.
- Support personnel during off-hours & weekends as needed.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. without employer visa sponsorship.
Preferred Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in plant operations.
- Education or experience in wind energy technology, mechanical/electrical maintenance, or instrumentation & controls.
- Advanced computer skills for word processing, spreadsheets, email, & facility control systems.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals & regulations.
- Knowledge of medium & high voltage equipment operation.
- Initiative & ability to work without supervision.
- Writing skills for contractual reporting obligations.
