Job Description
Job Title: Field Service Engineer. Location: Eastern OH - Western PA. Fully Remote • Eastern Ohio, OH • Field Service. Plans and coordinates assignments as directed by the HUB Lead. This includes installation, upgrading, troubleshooting technical issues, performing scheduled maintenance, and calibration services. Ensures first-class service performance in quality execution, speed of repair, and customer interaction.
Responsibilities:
- Identify technical issues of heat treatment equipment at customer sites.
- Execute service jobs at customer sites, including troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and calibrations.
- Document performed service jobs and record potential warranty claims.
- Identify and promote up-/cross-selling opportunities for heat treatment services at customer sites.
- Identify required materials (tools, consumables, spare parts) to ensure successful service execution.
- Act as the first point of contact for customers with existing service contracts.
- Plan and schedule service jobs in coordination with the HUB Lead.
- Accurately record hours worked and job assignments in the time & attendance system.
- Submit expense reports for review and approval in a timely manner.
- Work safely, following all Ipsen safety protocols and policies.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of the heat treatment industry.
- Ability to maintain heat treatment equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (internal and external).
- Strong customer service and customer orientation.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude and skills.
- Basic computer operations knowledge (e.g., MS Office, ERP, CRM).
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and represent Ipsen positively.
- Ability to identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with hands-on mentality.
- Ability to live within the assigned HUB location or within 30 minutes' drive from a HUB border (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license and required automobile insurance as per Ipsen Travel Policy.
- Ability to travel as needed by automobile, airplane, or other means.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 5+ years of related industrial equipment operation and/or maintenance experience required, preferably in the heat treatment industry or completion of an intensive industry training program.
- Experience in equipment calibration, pyrometry, vacuum, thermal, and TUS experience is a plus.
Physical/Environmental Factors:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and handle or feel objects.
- Regularly required to use close vision, hear, and talk.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May be assigned to locations with high noise levels.
