Asst. Lead Engineer - Structural

Job Description

As a Structural / Mechanical Engineer within Vestas Power Solutions, you’ll be part of the multi-disciplinary Nacelle Cover Sub module team. You’ll handle FEA assessments, design verification, and optimization of Nacelle Cover Panels, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • FEA Assessment: Perform local and global FEA modelling for Nacelle Cover Panels.
  • Project Collaboration: Define load requirements, safety factors, and design verification reports.
  • Design Functionality: Ensure design meets functional interfaces, performance, and reliability requirements.
  • Optimization: Design panels for safety, cost optimization, and robustness.
  • Certification: Work closely with product certification bodies (DNV and others).
  • Solution Generation: Develop solutions for design challenges and oversee project delivery through design gates.
  • Documentation: Generate engineering documents, verification reports, and compliance documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's & Master’s in Mechanical, Polymer, or related Engineering fields.
  • Experience: 7+ years in structural design and FEA; 5+ years with Ansys/Workbench.
  • Skills: Deep understanding of composite materials, structural mechanics, and CAD software (CREO preferred).
  • Additional Skills: Knowledge of programming languages (Python, Matlab), FEA scripting, topology optimization, and turbine load analysis.

Competencies:

  • Materials Knowledge: Expertise in composites and manufacturing processes.
  • Design Tools: Proficiency in Ansys, CAD software, bolt verification tools.
  • Standards & Analysis: Understanding of wind industry standards, extreme and fatigue analysis, system interface design.
  • Certification & Documentation: Experience in generating design verification reports and managing 3rd party certification.
