Manager, Renewable Development

Job Description

Job Title: Manager, Renewable Development. Location: Chicago, IL. As the **Manager of Renewable Development**, you will oversee the development of utility-scale solar & wind projects across the U.S. This role is based in our Chicago headquarters.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage solar & wind projects throughout the U.S.  
  • Lead development activities across various project stages (early, mid, late).  
  • Align projects with the company’s long-term strategies.  
  • Identify development opportunities through market assessments & site evaluations.  
  • Secure site control by negotiating leases & agreements with landowners.  
  • Coordinate communication efforts with landowners.  
  • Take the lead in obtaining necessary local, state, & federal permits.  
  • Represent Invenergy with stakeholders, including customers & officials.  
  • Initiate & manage generation interconnection activities.  
  • Oversee project design & assist with budgeting & scheduling.  
  • Ensure project tasks adhere to budget & timelines, coordinating internal & external support.

Required Skills:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  
  • 4+ years of experience in renewable or clean energy sectors.  
  • Valid driver’s license.  
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.  
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without employer visa sponsorship.

Preferred Skills:  

  • Bachelor's in Business or Engineering; a Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.  
  • Experience managing development & strategic processes for renewable projects.  
  • Strong organizational, networking, leadership, & time management skills.  
  • Excellent public speaking & written communication abilities.  
  • Familiarity with solar project development, real estate, & transmission engineering is advantageous.  
  • Relevant experience in environmental permitting & land development is preferred.
