Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Technician. Location: San Diego, California. Oceaneering Technologies (OTECH) provides advanced marine, subsea, and aerospace solutions for commercial and U.S. military applications. With a focus on offshore energy, defense, and subsea operations, Oceaneering specializes in engineered products, including remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and offshore maintenance services.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct mechanical/hydraulic maintenance & repairs on submarine rescue assets & support equipment.
• Perform scheduled & corrective maintenance, field installation, testing, & troubleshooting;
• Ensure compliance with technical requirements, including NAVSEA standards & American Bureau of Shipping rules.
• Maintain readiness of submarine rescue teams & systems to meet U.S. Navy requirements.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, air, & oxygen systems;
• Perform light mechanical assembly for submarine rescue systems, ROV mechanical systems, & diesel generators.
• Use precision tools, TMDE, & calibrated equipment for maintenance & inspections.
• Participate in material handling, rigging, crane operations, & at-sea deployments.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical Associate’s degree or trade school preferred.
• At least 2 years of formal mechanical/hydraulic training or 4 years of hands-on mechanical assembly experience.
• Ability to read & interpret complex schematics;
• Strong communication & teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently under various conditions.
• U.S. citizenship with eligibility for security clearance.
• Valid U.S. passport.

Preferred:

• Experience with Deep Submergence Systems – Scope of Certification (DSS-SOC).
• Troubleshooting to component level.
• Knowledge of shipboard & subsea systems (ROVs/AUVs).

Working Conditions:

• 50% indoor (controlled environment).
• 50% outdoor, including work at sea on vessels.
• Close proximity to other team members during operations.
