Mid-Level Solid Waste Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Mid-Level Solid Waste Engineer. Location: Columbia, MD, USA

Responsibilities:

• Design and development of solid waste infrastructure, including landfills, transfer stations, stormwater systems, and site layouts.
• Conduct engineering analyses, such as slope stability, hydrologic and landfill gas modeling, seismic evaluations, and seepage studies.
• Prepare permit applications, design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications in compliance with local, state, & federal regulations.
• Perform fieldwork for geologic & hydrogeologic investigations, design, and construction services.
• Manage small projects or tasks, ensuring timely and quality deliverables.
• Participate in business development through proposal writing and client relationship building.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, geologic, or geotechnical engineering (required); Master’s degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration or ability to obtain within one year.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in solid waste engineering or consulting.
• Proficiency in tools like GeoStudio, Slide, Settle3D, Golden Software, or HELP (preferred).
• Strong written & verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and perform regular fieldwork.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a satisfactory record.
