Job Description

Position: Offshore Service Technician (Virginia Beach, VA)

As a Wind Technician for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE), you'll be part of one of the world’s leading suppliers of wind power solutions. This role is dedicated to the Coastal Virginia Offshore Project, responsible for servicing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Siemens Gamesa Direct Drive Wind Turbines. You'll ensure world-class service while driving high First Time Fix Rates and Availability.

Responsibilities:

Develop Offshore Direct Drive platform knowledge and support all works onshore or offshore.

Perform service, maintenance, and repair of SGRE Direct Drive Wind Turbines.

Ensure compliance with SGRE standards and U.S. legislation related to EHS, Quality, and Service delivery.

Provide excellent service to customers and participate in developing new field procedures and best practices.

Conduct safety leadership onshore, on the Service Operations Vessel (SOV), in the turbine, and in the Wind Farm.

Report incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts/conditions.

Extensive travel (over 70%) in the first 18 months for training and offshore exposure.

Support ramp-up activities of the Coastal Virginia Commercial Project and other Offshore/Onshore projects regionally and globally.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Wind Technician experience from leading OEMs, ideally with Maintenance Technician profile or equivalent.

Physically and mentally able to work suspended from heights and in confined spaces.

Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel extensively.

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less.

Must pass Offshore Medical, pre-hire drug screening, and extensive background checks for NERC/Cip.

Legally authorized for employment in the United States without employer-sponsored work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

Offshore DD exposure or high-caliber candidates open to full training.

Electrical and/or mechanical education preferred.

Experience with contractors, customers, MS Office applications, SAP, MORS, ATS, Wind Hub, or remote diagnostic tools.

Flexibility to work in shifts at the project location (e.g., 2 weeks on at sea & 2 weeks off).

Location: This role requires being based within a daily commutable distance from Norfolk, VA, and Virginia Beach. Relocation may be offered for suitable candidates.
