Job Description
Job Title: Operations Controller – Renewable Energy. Location: Canberra, Australia
Responsibilities:
- Monitor & control renewable energy assets using SCADA systems for safe & efficient operations.
- Respond to real-time events in the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM) & manage alerts.
- Coordinate with Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSPs), AEMO, & other stakeholders on outages, constraints, & network conditions.
- Analyze electrical performance, power flow, & dispatch solutions for optimization.
- Interpret technical specifications, regulations, & power generation equipment drawings;
- Collaborate with the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team to improve asset availability & efficiency.
- Monitor market activities using AEMO systems & execute re-bidding strategies.
- Develop operational reports (daily, weekly, monthly) for internal & external use;
- Utilize tools like MATLAB, VBA, Power BI, & Tableau to analyze operational data.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of OCC systems, functions, & procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Commerce, or related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the energy sector;
- Strong analytical & data interpretation skills with proficiency in Excel.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 shift-based environment under high operational pressure.
- Highly reliable, organized, & team-oriented;
- Fluent in English (written & spoken).
- Experience in a trading desk or control center is an advantage.
