Photovoltaic Field Technician

Job Description

Job Title: Photovoltaic Field Technician.  Location: Southern California Region. As a Photovoltaic (PV) Technician, you will handle preventative maintenance and troubleshooting for various solar projects. This role emphasizes electrical and driving safety, requiring full compliance with all relevant safety requirements and laws.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and troubleshoot photovoltaic systems for smaller-scale public works projects  
• Respond to trouble tickets and perform corrective actions  
• Develop work scopes for repairs requiring subcontracted help  
• Conduct annual preventative maintenance and use a mobile app for record keeping  
• Review service reports to identify and plan corrective actions  
• Provide on-the-job training to apprentice electricians  
• Perform re-commissioning, site inspections, and maintain detailed expense records  
• Adhere to O&M and Performance Guarantee contract terms, customer safety requirements, and site access terms

Qualifications:

• California Certified Journeyman Electrician  
• Minimum of 4 years of experience with PV design, installation, or maintenance  
• Knowledge of NEC electrical code, NFPA70, and OSHA 30  
• Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and monitoring PV systems  
• Ability to review performance reports and troubleshoot under-performance issues  

Additional Details:

• Eligible for hybrid work policy  
• Daily worksite attendance required  
• Domestic travel up to 90% including overnight trips  
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record required  
• 90% outdoor work, exposure to weather conditions, and ability to work on rooftops require  

Compensation:

• Salary Range: $35.82 – $54.90 USD per hour  
• Eligible for competitive bonus/incentive plan and emergency/on-call pay
