Principal Engineering Geologist

Job Description

Principal Engineering Geologist. Location: Manchester, GBR

Responsibilities:

• Lead & manage geotechnical projects from investigation through to design & construction.
• Conduct ground investigations, risk assessments, & soil/rock parameter analysis;
• Develop innovative geotechnical designs, including slope stability assessments & ground improvement solutions.
• Provide expertise in investigating & mitigating historic mine workings;
• Mentor & develop junior engineers while fostering a culture of technical excellence;
• Prepare project reports, specifications, & design documentation;
• Ensure projects comply with relevant design codes & geotechnical best practices.
• Engage with internal & external stakeholders to manage project execution & client relationships.
• Support business development by contributing to fee bids & proposals.
• Travel within the UK as needed.

Qualifications:

• BSc or MSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Chartered status (Geologist or Engineer) preferred.
• Strong experience in geotechnical design, ground investigations, & soil/rock parameter assessment.
• Proficiency in industry standards, design codes, & risk assessment methodologies;
• Proven leadership & project management experience;
• Excellent communication & stakeholder management skills;
• Clean driving license & willingness to travel.
