Project Engineer, Renewable Engineering

Job Description

As a Project Engineer, Renewable Engineering (Wind), you will lead the technical design and support evaluation of commercial and utility-scale wind projects in the Quebec region.

Responsibilities:

Conduct preliminary technical due diligence for prospective wind energy projects.

Coordinate site characterization studies, evaluate project constraints, and design optimized project layouts using GIS software.

Design site measurement campaigns, analyze meteorological data, and establish long-term resource characteristics.

Model expected energy production and key metrics, including capacity factors and energy uncertainty.

Support pre-construction efforts by maintaining project site plans and facilitating geotechnical investigations.

Conduct site visits to evaluate and optimize wind turbine placement, participate in landowner meetings, community outreach, and construction meetings.

Collaborate with electrical engineering and project management teams to execute projects through the construction phase.

Stay updated on wind turbine technology and market trends, working with OEMs to optimize equipment selection.

Interface with development, finance, environmental, GIS, and project management teams to support all project phases, ensuring smooth transfer of technical responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.

3+ years of engineering experience.

Proficient in English and French.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated interest in renewable energy.

Experience in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment.

Experience modeling energy project economics (NPV, LCOE, IRR).

Software experience in energy modeling (Openwind, Windfarmer), resource modeling (Windographer), and GIS (ArcGIS, Global Mapper).

Understanding of statistical analysis and linear regression models related to meteorological data and MCP methodology.

Familiarity with remote sensing for wind measurement campaigns.

Location: Chicago (preferred) or Montreal  

Language Requirement: Proficient in English and French
