Protection & Controls Engineer

Job Description

The successful candidate will have experience in electrical engineering design, work well in a team, and communicate effectively. They should show initiative, motivation, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

Electrical engineering design for assigned projects.

Mentor other electrical engineers.

Develop design schedules & budgets with Project Engineer/Manager.

Perform power system studies & protection settings coordination.

Generate design documentation for protection settings.

Support construction, start-up, & commissioning.

Review peer engineering work.

Attend client meetings.

Travel to client/project sites as needed.

Mentor early career engineers and lead internal training if requested.

Level Specific:

Lead engineer on projects.

Technical advisor & provide specialized input.

Develop procedures for high-quality work.

Participate in project deliverable reviews.

Prepare cost estimates & technical effort estimates.

Perform quality control on design calculations/drawings.

Develop technical specifications.

Contribute to engineering budget & schedule.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).

6 years of relevant experience.

Preferred: Professional Engineering licensure, 10 years’ experience (2 years as project lead), knowledge of FERC/NERC, IEC61850, EPC projects, field experience, and power systems analysis software.

Additional Info: Relocation assistance not available. Sponsorship available. Compensation: $92,869.86 - $171,809.24 based on location & qualifications.
