PV Engineering Manager

Job Description

Iberdrola is a global energy leader, the number one producer of wind power, and one of the world's biggest electricity utilities in terms of market capitalisation.

Main Responsibilities:

Develop and review energy yield calculations using PVSYST and other tools.

Conduct due diligence for PV projects, focusing on energy assessment, design feasibility, and engineering issues.

Support development of early-stage projects with conceptual designs.

Analyze sites, including on-site visits, to design and construct PV plants.

Design and optimize PV plant layouts and electrical configurations.

Develop PV design packages including solar array layouts, electrical one-lines, and collection systems.

Define SCADA and communication requirements for solar PV facilities.

Estimate inverter MVA for reactive power needs.

Lead engineering aspects of solar-specific projects, including bid development and contract review.

Supervise EPC works with a focus on engineering issues.

Support implementation of new PV trends such as batteries and hybrid solutions.

Represent the company with stakeholders including public and private institutions.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s and Master's Degrees in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or similar fields.

Minimum 5 years in photovoltaic project engineering in Germany.

At least 3 years' expert-level experience with PVSYST software.

Experience in battery projects is advantageous.

Specific Knowledge/Technical Skills/Software Requirements:

PV plant design, production analysis, electrical and civil works.

Familiarity with PV equipment trends (modules, inverters, structures/trackers).

Knowledge of topographic and geotechnical survey contracting.

Understanding of PV plant construction and communication/SCADA systems.

Experience with certification processes and grid regulations.

Familiarity with Germany's renewable project licensing process.

Success in international project teams and industry contacts preferred.

Proficiency in solar PV design, optimization, and modelling software.

Familiarity with Power Factory, MS Project, AutoCAD, GIS, and MS Office.

Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.

Soft Skills: Technical acumen with ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments. Excellent interpersonal and time management abilities. Entrepreneurial mindset with resilience and proactive approach.

Languages: Proficiency in German and English; Spanish is a plus.
