Quality Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Quality Engineer. Location: Morgan City, Louisiana, US (Hybrid Work Schedule). The Quality Engineer will support business units by implementing and optimizing the Oceaneering quality management system. The role focuses on accelerating business results, reducing cost of poor quality (COPQ), and improving on-time delivery through proactive quality programs and continuous improvement projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  •  Lead proactive quality programs (DFMEA, PFMEA), COPQ reduction projects, and waste reduction initiatives.
  •  Define and manage requirements critical to quality (CTQ) and process (CTP).
  •  Facilitate continuous improvement projects with cross-functional teams and support their execution.
  •  Conduct quality-based risk assessments and ensure competence of affected employees.
  •  Develop processes based on CTQs and CTPs and understand customer quality requirements.
  •  Review, approve, and comment on specifications, drawings, and procedures.
  •  Manage Gage Calibration and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  •  Develop and ensure implementation of inspection, testing plans, and quality plans.
  •  Facilitate external audits for site certifications and manage internal and external audits.
  •  Prepare corrective actions for nonconforming events and analyze COPQ data.
  •  Support process monitoring through statistical process control and collaborate with Technical Assurance and Program Management.
  •  Provide QA/QC support for client projects, including risk management and quality reporting.
  •  Maintain detailed Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans and client-specific Product Inspection & Test Plans.
  •  Serve as Quality representative for client and 3rd party inspections and utilize SmartSolve for quality management.
  •  Support Health and Safety performance, including conducting observations and supporting HSE improvement projects.
  •  Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (Quality, Mechanical, Electrical).
  • Experience in Quality Engineering and Continuous Improvement with evidence of process improvement.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS requirements.
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17020 and/or ISO/IEC 17025 (for IMDS support).
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule from Morgan City, Louisiana.

Desired:

  • ISO 9001 lead auditor certification.
  • Green Belt certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Application of mathematical concepts (fractions, percentages, ratios) to practical situations.
  • Effective presentation and communication skills with managers, clients, and the public.

Working Conditions: Primarily office-based work with occasional exposure to airborne dust. Stable work surfaces.
