Senior Accountant - APAC

Job Description

Position: Senior Tax Specialist - APAC. Location: Mumbai, Hybrid (virtual and in-office). Travel: Up to 15% (domestic and international)

Provide tax support for the APAC region, focusing on India tax matters, including compliance, provision, and planning. Assist with the overall tax lifecycle for relevant jurisdictions.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure tax compliance within operating jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate tax filings and manage information requests from third-party providers.
  • Resolve tax audit issues within operational jurisdictions.
  • Prepare transfer pricing documentation for intercompany transactions.
  • Support with indirect taxes such as VAT, GST, payroll, etc.
  • Identify and communicate process improvement opportunities in tax provision and compliance.
  • Prepare current and deferred tax provision calculations, FIN 48, RTP, and TBBS.
  • Create quarterly and annual tax provision workpapers.
  • Record current and deferred taxes in operating jurisdictions.
  • Evaluate and identify corporate income tax uncertainties.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls for tax reporting.
  • Support international tax planning, provisions, filings, and controversy matters.
  • Provide advice on structuring new business and agreements.
  • Conduct permanent establishment reviews and make recommendations.
  • Assist with foreign restructurings and analyze tax impacts on financial reporting.
  • Monitor legislative updates for impacts on operations.
  • Keep current with new legislation and best practices.
  • Reports to Tax Manager, APAC.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of corporate/public tax experience with a focus on India and APAC.
  • Strong corporation tax and compliance experience.
  • Proficient research, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Desired:

  • ICAI qualification or equivalent.
  • Master’s in taxation, JD, or LLM with a focus on taxation.
  • Background in public accounting, corporate tax, or both.
  • Experience with US multinationals or Energy companies.
  • Familiarity with India tax compliance, audits, and litigation.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft ERP System and ONESOURCE Tax Provision.
  • Experience with tax research tools (Checkpoint, Orbitax) and data tools (Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau, UiPath).
  • Knowledge of additional languages.
