Senior Development Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Development Engineer. Location: Hybrid (Austin, TX, San Francisco, New York, Guelph, Canada)

Responsibilities:

• Manage the conceptual design of photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.
• Oversee drafting consultants & staff to ensure efficient workload management.
• Develop conceptual PV & BESS layouts, single-line drawings, & site constraints plans.
• Optimize PV plant designs based on site-specific environmental factors;
• Conduct site visits to assess land characteristics & potential risks;
• Support site diligence, permitting, & procurement of land studies (e.g., geotech, hydrology).
• Collaborate with finance, real estate, & permitting teams to ensure project feasibility.
• Manage consultant work orders, ensuring scope, schedule, & quality control.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 2+ years of engineering experience in land development or infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Google Earth, & Excel;
• Strong understanding of site planning, hydrology, & utility routing.
• EIT certification is a plus.
• Experience in the renewable energy industry preferred.
