Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description

Geosyntec is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Waterloo office, focusing on supporting our engineering design practice for water and wastewater treatment projects. This role involves applying electrical engineering skills to industrial and municipal sector clients, contributing to various complex and innovative projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Design: Develop and review technical approaches, detailed electrical designs, and system controls for process engineering projects.
  • Project Management: Scope, schedule, and budget design projects, including estimating labor, material, and construction costs.
  • Documentation: Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and topographical maps; review and manage technical documents and proposals.
  • Client and Team Interaction: Participate in meetings with clients and regulatory personnel; direct multi-disciplinary project teams and manage multiple concurrent project assignments.
  • Software and Tools: Utilize computer-assisted engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) for electrical engineering tasks.
  • Business Development: Contribute to lead generation, business development, and mentoring staff.

Education and Licensure:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; Professional registration (P.E.).
  • Preferred: Advanced degree in electrical engineering.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 8 years in electrical engineering with a focus on water and wastewater projects; strong background in industrial equipment, power distribution, and process controls.
  • Design Skills: Proficiency in developing single line diagrams and network diagrams; experience with process instrumentation and controls systems.
  • Tools: Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and knowledge of applicable codes (NEC, NFPA) and regulations.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary project teams, excellent leadership, and detail-orientation skills.
  • Other: Ability to handle multiple project assignments, meet deadlines, and undertake fieldwork and travel as required; valid Canadian driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
