Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer (Grid). Location: Scottish Power HQ, St Vincent Street, Glasgow, UK

Responsibilities:

1. Project Development & Delivery:
   • Oversee electrical engineering aspects of renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and energy storage.
   • Lead projects from concept through planning, design, construction, and commissioning.
2. Grid Connection & Compliance:
   • Manage grid applications, ensuring designs comply with project requirements.
   • Collaborate with DNOs to secure and manage grid connections.
3. Team Leadership & Collaboration:
   • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and coordinate resources.
   • Work closely with Project Managers and internal teams to meet project goals.
4. Design & Specification:
   • Create detailed electrical equipment specifications for HV infrastructure.
   • Oversee contractors, consultants, and technical processes to ensure alignment with standards.
5. On-Site Support:
   • Occasionally visit project sites across the UK during construction phases to oversee implementation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in grid connection within the renewables sector.
• Proficiency in electrical design tools and MS Office.
• Chartered membership of the IEE is a plus.
• Valid driving license with flexibility to travel.
