Senior Project Manager - Geotechnical

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Geotechnical Project Manager / Engineer. Location: New York City, NY. Langan is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Project Manager / Engineer to join our team in New York City. This role involves managing client interactions, providing leadership and staff training, preparing technical reports, and overseeing geotechnical aspects of construction. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with industry leaders and contribute to a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, construction plans, and geotechnical recommendations.
  • Design foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical elements.
  • Conduct support of excavation designs and perform Plaxis 3D analysis.
  • Prepare proposals, coordinate projects, manage clients, and handle billing.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, schedules, and timelines.
  • Perform and oversee multiple projects and tasks within set deadlines.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to staff.
  • Review and guide staff work, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Expand services for existing clients and explore opportunities to develop new clients.
  • Log borings, perform construction observations, and oversee field work related to geotechnical investigations.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant geotechnical experience.
  • Professional Engineer licensure required.
  • Experience in geotechnical investigations, construction inspections, and field work coordination.
  • Proficiency in software such as gINT, Slide/SLOPE/W, PLAXIS, LPILE, GRLWEAP, MSEW, and SHAKE.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Some field work required.
  • Reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
