Senior Structural Engineer

Job Description

CSG Consultants is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to oversee planning, review, design, and construction management of structural elements for various public works projects. This role requires managing multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrating strong project management skills.

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret maps, diagrams, blueprints, and specifications for code compliance.
• Understand and apply California Building Standards Codes and Referenced Standards.
• Suggest alternate compliance methods with codes and ordinances.
• Supervise plans examiners, plan check engineers, and structural engineers.
• Prepare and present oral and written reports.
• Represent the department at meetings.
• Stay updated on legal and technical developments in building construction.
• Mentor and train engineers and plans examiners.
• Perform structural design on various projects.
• Carry out additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 6 to 14 years in the industry, including 5 years of plan review experience.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Licenses/Certifications: PE California License preferred; ICC Certified Building Plans Examiner desired.
• Strong computer skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to handle stressful situations.
• Valid Class “C” California driver’s license required.

Working Conditions: Drive to and walk through job sites for extended periods. Lift and carry equipment up to 35 lbs. Sit for long periods and work with detailed documents.

Pay and Benefits: Compensation: $125,000 to $170,000 annually (varies based on skills, experience, and location).
