Service Technician Intern

Job Description

Job Title: AMR Service Engineer Intern. Location: Oceaneering Mobile Robotics (OMR). Internship Duration: 20 weeks or more (32-40 hours per week). Oceaneering seeks enthusiastic students for a 20-week internship to support the multidisciplinary challenge of working with our Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) & related subsystems. Under the supervision of an experienced Service Engineer, you will gain hands-on experience in maintenance, repairs, & commissioning activities, ensuring our AMRs meet Oceaneering’s high standards for quality & safety.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance & repairs on AMR systems, including bug-fixes, calibrations, & troubleshooting.
  • Assist with installation & assembly work as needed.
  • Test newly built AMRs for driving behavior & functionality.
  • Support the commissioning process in our production facility.
  • Gain experience with software installations & upgrades for AMRs.
  • Assist the Project Engineer with documentation & reporting on the commissioning process.
  • Develop skills in reading schematics & technical documentation to troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Identify improvement actions from audits, inspections, defect reports, & incident investigations.
  • Implement creative, effective, & innovative solutions to technical challenges.
  • Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Contribute to a positive work atmosphere with a cheerful & proactive attitude.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Final-year student pursuing an MBO3/4 in Mechatronics, Electronics, Information Technology, or a similar field.
  • Affinity with working with robots.
  • Proficient in written & oral English communication.
  • Previous experience with software tools for configuration, diagnosing, & using PLCs, controllers, actuators, & sensors.

Desired:

  • Experience in integrating software & hardware in an automation environment.
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills for effective information exchange.
  • Possession of a VCA certificate.
  • Creativity & problem-solving skills with minimal input.
  • A positive, energetic attitude with a strong work ethic & eagerness to learn.

Reporting Relationships: You will report directly to the Service Coordinator. While on assignment, you will also report to the Project Engineer.
