Wind Service Technicians

Job Description

Job Title: Wind Service Technicians - Western Canada. Location: Medicine Hat, AB (Cypress, Forty Mile, Rattlesnake, Brooks) . As a Wind Service Technician, you will be responsible for the service and maintenance of wind turbines in Western Canada. This role requires diagnosing and resolving issues independently and efficiently, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring safety and quality in all operations. The position involves working at elevated heights and may require extensive travel, especially during the first year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform service and maintenance on wind turbines, troubleshoot technical errors, and escalate issues to engineering support as needed.
  • Customer Service: Provide outstanding service to our customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Development & Safety: Participate in the development of new field procedures and best practices, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Support & Flexibility: Support other wind farm sites across Canada as needed, with the flexibility to travel over 50% in the first year and around 10% thereafter.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

  • Work Environment: Work inside wind turbine enclosures at heights of ~300 feet, requiring the ability to maintain composure in stressful situations and confined spaces.
  • Physical Demands: Includes ladder climbing (minimum 250 steps), standing for long periods, walking, lifting, bending, and working in extreme weather conditions.
  • Safety Compliance: Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less and pass a physical examination to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions.

Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • License & Travel: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required. Must be eligible to hold a valid passport and willing to travel as needed.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel, with the ability to organize and plan work effectively.
  • Safety & Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work safely in a team environment with excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical Fitness: Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner and meet all safety regulations.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 months experience in a mechanical, electrical, or industrial field. Hands-on experience as a Wind Technician on a Wind Farm is highly desirable.
  • Certification: Certification from a Renewable Energy or Wind Technical Program is preferred.
  • Relevant Background: Experience or knowledge in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, maintenance/troubleshooting in military, industrial, or automotive industries is a plus.
