Sr. Civil (Water) Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Water Resources Engineer. Location: Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth, Australia. We are seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to lead the technical aspects of surface water engineering for multidisciplinary projects. This role involves supervising work, liaising with Engineers-of-Record, writing technical reports, and building strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical surface water engineering aspects of projects.
  • Supervise and review work completed by team members.
  • Collaborate with Engineers-of-Record on long-term projects.
  • Write technical reports, proposals, and papers.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Liaise with internal disciplines and sub-consultants, including international branches of Geosyntec.
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in national and international conferences.
  • Manage and execute hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tasks.
  • Develop and review drainage and surface water management plans.

Qualifications:

Education & Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field (required).
  • Advanced Degree (preferred).
  • Eligible for membership of Engineers Australia (preferred).
  • Working towards CPENG and RPEQ status (preferred).

Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of consulting experience in the water resources sector.
  • Proficiency in hydrologic modeling packages (e.g., RORB, RAFTS, URBS, WBNM) and 2D hydraulic modeling packages (e.g., TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, XP SWMM, Flow-2D).
  • Competent in GIS package/s.
  • Working knowledge of ARR guidelines.
  • Experienced in technical report and proposal writing, and project management.

Highly Regarded Skills:

  • Additional experience with other modeling packages.
  • Familiarity with dam safety guidelines (ANCOLD, GISTM, CDA, DES).
  • Experience with water balance studies (GoldSim), dam break and consequence assessment studies, and stormwater management.
  • Proficiency in GoldSim, 12d, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Muk3D.
