Tailings/Geotechnical Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Tailings Engineer. Location: Perth, Australia. This role supports clients’ tailings and mine waste management, ensuring safety and compliance with evolving standards. As part of our team, you will provide technical and operational support for TSFs and WSFs, applying your expertise in civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and analysis of tailings dams and related facilities.
  • Conduct geotechnical analyses using software tools.
  • Understand and apply tailings deposition modeling (Muk3D).
  • Perform geotechnical and environmental site characterization.
  • Develop and manage instrumentation monitoring systems.
  • Assist with project/task management and proposal preparation.
  • Prepare engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Fieldwork and overnight travel as needed.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation in tailings management practices.

Qualifications:

Education & Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a related field (required).
  • Advanced degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a related field (preferred).
  • Professional registration (preferred but not essential).

Skills & Experience:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a consulting environment or equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • Proficiency with geotechnical engineering software (required).
  • Knowledge of numerical modeling tools (preferred).
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and travel to client facilities (required).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills (required).
  • Valid Australian driver’s license and satisfactory driving record (required).
