Technical Director EIA

Job Description

Technical Director Environment - Flexible Location, UK/Ireland. Location: Multiple locations across the UK and Ireland (including Basingstoke, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London Aldgate, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, St Albans, Warrington)  

As a Technical Director Environment, you'll lead environmental input on large-scale infrastructure projects crucial for achieving net-zero goals. You'll manage projects across various sectors including energy generation, transportation, and regeneration, from initial strategy through to operational phases.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead & Direct: Oversee multidisciplinary environmental inputs, manage budgets and resources, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate: Work with integrated design teams to address environmental constraints and develop solutions.
  • Create: Develop business opportunities, prepare fee and technical proposals, and manage client relationships.
  • Inspire: Mentor staff and support their development.
  • Champion: Promote AECOM’s environmental services internally and externally.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary environmental inputs to infrastructure projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes and relevant consenting regimes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Project management expertise, including programming, resource, and budget management.
  • Degree in an environmental discipline (Masters preferred) and relevant professional membership.
  • Willingness to travel.

Desirable:

  • Chartered Environmentalist status.
  • Experience with DCO or TWAO consenting regimes.
  • Interest in line management and staff mentoring.
